To me, it is quite sad when people actually argue and believe that humans would not behave morally without a higher being telling them to be good or without the threat of eternal torture. As if we would be morally lost without our divinely inspired holy books telling us how to keep slaves, how to subjugate women, how to stone people for crimes like picking up sticks on the Sabbath, how to sacrifice animals, and how we should be willing to kill our own children if God so demands.
